Sunshine
Project is committed to bringing therapies
into the community at reasonable rates, especially to those on low income and
those who are isolated or housebound.
Sunshine
Project works in venues in Kings Lynn
and Terrington, in the home, or by telephone or email, with all sections of the
community, including all types of families, couples and the individual.
Face
to Face counselling and therapy
are available in North Norfolk: Kings Lynn and Terrington areas.
Telephone
and Email counselling and therapy are also available if you have a problem
travelling to a venue, live a long way from our bases, or prefer a more anonymous
approach
A
counselling/therapy session provides a safe place to talk
about anything you wish, in complete confidence.
It
can be used to help deal with crisis, to explore problems, concerns or ideas,
and to change behaviour. It can be an opportunity to get to know yourself better,
to change the way you 'do life'.
It
is the clients session to use and explore how the client wishes and no-one will
tell you what to do, but you will be assisted with exploring options to adopt
in the way you feel is right for you. No-one will judge you if you feel the time
is not right to make the changes. Everyone has to do what is right for them at
the time. There is always a reason for behaviour and every client is respected
for their strengths in their desire to explore theirs. A safe and nurturing environment
is provided, to talk about whatever the client wishes, in the way he or she feels
most comfortable. A client is never expected to talk about anything they do not
wish to, but is given the opportunity to learn new ways and techniques. It gives
an environment to safely grieve loss, explore and change behaviour, change life
situations, help acceptance and facilitate growth.
Counselling
and Therapy can be likened to a journey on which the therapist accompanies you.
Person-Centred
Therapy, Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
(CBT) are all available through Sunshine Project.
Person-Centred
Therapy means the client is approached in an accepting and non-judgmental
way. It encourages the client to give up any unreasonable demands they may have
on themselves and to treat themselves with caring and respect - to be able to
express their true self. This helps a greater understanding of others also. Self
esteem can be therefore enhanced.
Cognitive
Analytical Therapy is an interactive therapy that works with the past
to help understand behaviour and life patterns in the present. Using psychology,
it can give answers to questions about behaviour, and understand why things happened.
It can increase self esteem by enabling a change in thought processes from negative
to positive.
Cognitive
Behavioural Therapy works with thought processes
and challenges negative thinking, encouraging learning of new ways to positive.
If you have awareness and understanding of what has happened to you/what is happening to you and why, then you will be able to take charge, and make your life how you want it to be. Click
